What makes you feel “Youthful”?

To be honest, I’m a big fan of the high school baseball tournament, which is called “Koshien” in Japanese. I always watch the games as much as I can, even sometimes I watch a game with my clients together while I’m working.

Every game has drama because they play baseball with their best performance. Ichiro, who is one of the best baseball players in the world, said “High school baseball is ‘baseball’ but Major League Baseball is a ‘contest’“.

So, you may get the point, yes, the high school baseball tournament makes me feel “youthful”. Therefore, I realized that I am not a teenager anymore but I can feel youthful through the tournament, which means it doesn’t matter how old you are in actual age, the matter is your mindset. I believe age is just a number, the most important is your inner-age of mind.

I found a significant message that my opinion may be true. One of my clients showed a poem written by Samuel Ullman, who is an American poet(1840-1924), describing youth. “Youth is not a time of life; it is a state of mind; When the aerials are down, and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old, even at twenty, but as long as your aerials are up, to catch the waves of optimism, there is hope you may die young at eighty.”

Not only this poem made me feel impressed but also surprised that people consider the same thing beyond the generations and cultural backgrounds.

It would be a great idea to share your “youthful” story. I would love to hear your thoughts on question no.1 or 2 after the discussion.

<Question>

1. I would like to hear what makes you feel “youthful”? Anything could be possible, for example, some items, places, songs, memories, events, smells and so on.

2. Do you think actual age matters when you feel youthful? Or it doesn’t matter? Please share the reasons why.

3. If we had a Time Machine, what period of your lifetime would you want to visit? Or you would not want to visit the past anymore? Please share the reasons why.
