<Agenda>” Life in your 30s

The new year has just begun. How would you like to spend this year? I’m sure you will keep challenging lots of things this year too. This year is a bit special for me because I will turn 30 years old. In general, people in their 30s bear heavier responsibility in the workplace or local society than in their 20s. Many people start to be a major player in the workplace and create their own families in their 30s. I also feel the change of my role in the company. I’m no longer in the lowest position, which role is just receiving instructions from the boss but required to make decisions, instruct younger members, and make a profit. This is a stressful environment for me, but rewarding at the same time. In your 20s, failures are encouraged for your growth, but not in your 30s. My easy-going work life is over and now I’m under pressure to contribute to the company.

   Psychologically, around 30 years old is seen as the age of reaching full adulthood, and being faced, perhaps for the first time, with adult challenges and responsibilities. This age is also called “Saturn return” because Saturn takes 29 years to complete orbiting around the sun. Saturn return is a transitional phase of your life and many people struggle to design the life you want. However, your 30s are not only the time of struggle but it’s often described as life’s best years. Free from the financial and personal insecurity of the 20s and not yet approaching the midlife challenges of the 40s and 50s, the 30s are said to be the best of both freedom, and responsibility.

I’m very curious to listen to your opinions and hope this topic will be a good chance to think about how to spend this year.

<Questions>

1. What is your new year’s resolution this year?

2. What do you think changes in life between 20s and 30s? (Based on your experiences or forecasts)

3. What are your top three priorities in your life? And why?

Please share the summary of Q2 at the end.
