みなさまこんばんは、E’s club幹事のKです。第78回workshopの詳細をお送りいたします。

 

今回は前半のマテリアルをKさん、後半のマテリアルをUさんにそれぞれご作成いただきました。

前半は「移動を快適に」、後半は”Consumer generated media and stealth marketing”というテーマでそれぞれディスカッションを行ないます。

<FIRST HALF>

 

前半のトピックを担当するKです。

今回のテーマは移動を快適に、です。

仕事やプライベートで長距離移動をすることが多いのですが、移動が続くと体に不調をきたしたり、ちょっとしたトラブルにあったりすることがあります。

旅行に行きたいと思いつつ長距離移動のしんどさ、時間の読めなさを気にしてしまうことがあるのですが、皆さんはありますか?

もし、こうすれば快適!という方法があれば是非教えていただければと思います。

 

■How many times and how long do you use public transportation per day?

(Including travel)

 

■Do you have any experience to encounter trouble or health problem?

If you say yes, please explain about your trouble or problem.

 

■How can we avoid trouble or health problem? Is there any provision?

 

■In these situations, what do you do?

Stay? Walk? Search other transportation? Give up going?

 

(You can’t know when the train will resume.)

(1)Because of strong wind, the train is stopped.

The goal is near. If you walk, you’ll arrive in around one hour.

There is no other public transportation than taxi.

(2)Because of snow, the train is stopped.

The goal is far. If you use a highway bus, you can go there.

But, highway might be crowded because it’s only way to go.

■Some people say, young people especially 10’s is a worst-mannered generation in train. Do you agree with it?

Consumer generated media and stealth marketing

1. When you purchase something or use any service (ex. restaurants, electric appliance, cosmetics, travel/lodging, internet shopping.), do you access consumer generated media site to check in order to find the good one?

How often do you access such site?

 

2. When you use consumer generated media site, how do you use the information in your process of choosing the products/service?

What kinds of information do you believe to be useful and reliable, and what kinds of information do you believe to be unreliable?

Please tell other members your successful/ fail experience of your utilizing information in such site.

3. What do you think of the stealth marketing?

In the beginning of 2012, there’s disappointing news that stealth marketing was conducted in Tabelog which is very popular in Japan to find good restaurants.

Was that news affects your way of utilizing the information in site?

 

4. For companies that sell products/services, what is the merits and demerits of the existence of the consumer generated media site? Please discuss it.

 

5. How will the market become more exciting through the consumer generated media site?

Tabelog, Japan’s Yelp Reportedly Tainted By Undercover Positive Review Agents

A popular consumer restaurant review site Tabelog, who has been competing the top position of restaurant listing site against Gurunavi with user-generating-contents power, admitted on January 4 that there were reviews and ranking manipulations on Tabelog, by third party agents who sell a package like planted favorable comment posting and voting for rank-up, according to 47 News.

 

Kakaku.com, Japan’s big price comparison service who runs Tabelog, said that they confirmed the agents existence in January 2011, a year ago, and posted an alert on the Tabelog’s site policy page. Kakaku said that they identified 39 agents at now, and are thinking to take legal actions to stop them.

 

The number of Tabelog’s monthly visitors is 32 million, and how many stars (out of 5) restaurants have on it now affect how much they attract guests.

 

Sankei reported that Consumer Agency started collecting information, and 60 restaurants union of monja-yaki(Eastern Japanese style pancake) in Tsukijima, Tokyo, investigated and found at least two of their members paid an agent to manipulate the online reputation on Tabelog.

 

Nippon TV broadcasting network(NTV) reported this news at night news on 5, which aired (via @kansaitakako) that a certain restaurant told it that it paid 1,000 yen per day if it was ranked within top 5, 500 yen if 6th to 10th. TV-Asahi and other channels also reported.

 

Back in November, a Turkish restaurant Topkapi in Aoyama, Tokyo, got attention by net users by writing complains on a shop owners page on Tabelog, which claimed that Tabelog’s agent pitched them to buy such review manipulation plan. Tabelog warned Topkapi that the “official 49 agents” must not do such dirty work and at the end deleted the text. For net-savvy, it is not so strange that open internet sites can be manipulated, but as newspaper and TV’s report this incident, regular people are expressing their surprise, which show how they depended on the site.
