How is your working environment?

I have had the opportunity to work with a European company now, which made me realize the difference between the working environment in Japan and overseas. In my company, each person is in charge of a wide range of tasks and has to perform a variety of jobs, and I often see an increase in workload. On the other hand, I assume that in the European companies with which we collaborate, the responsibilities of each person are divided so that each person can concentrate on his or her work and perform his or her duties efficiently.

It is generally said that Japanese people work too much, and surveys of the working environment show that Japanese people work significantly longer hours than their European countries. On the other hand, when GDP is compared, the GDP of developed European countries is significantly higher than that of Japan. There may be many reasons for this, but one reason may be that there are too many unnecessary tasks in daily life. What are some of the wasteful tasks around you? And what measures should be taken to reduce them?

By the way, recently a freshman came into my workplace and I had to teach him some tasks, including chores. Then I had a chance to think “what is the ideal employee?”. Looking back to my workplace, I have an ideal senior employee. He is willing to do chores that others may not want to do, yet he is efficient in his work and achieves results without working much overtime. I feel that I would like to become such a person myself. I want to know what your idea of an ideal employee is.

<Question>

1. How many hours do you do the overtime work?

How many days do you get paid holidays?

Do you think you are a workaholic?

2. What kind of task is wasting your work time?

Do you use any good ideas to improve your work efficiency? (Any good tools or systems?)

3. Who do you think is the ideal worker?

If you imagine your colleagues, when do you recognize them as excellent workers?

What is the most important factor of an excellent worker?

D2C and the Future

D2C, Direct To Consumer is the Business Style newly increasing, especially among millennials.

As the word says, it should be a direct transaction between Supplier and Consumer, and Retailors nor wholesalers are not included in this transaction.

As the basic, D2C transactions are e-commerce only, therefore products of D2C players are mostly transferable, and deliverable.

The merit of D2C is not only the cost by skipping retailers or wholesalers, but can be connected to consumers directly to that they can hear the demand or opinion from consumers in real-time.

On the other hand, demerit is, of course, marketing issues and logistic issues, since those basic infrastructures should be managed by supplier directly.

Today we would like to discuss D2C and the future business.

1. Have you ever purchased any products with D2C transactions? Please share your experience.

2. Do you download Apps to connect to suppliers? If yes, please share your experience. If not, please share the reason.

3. Suppose if you are D2C players, what kind of products do you want to sell, and how you can provide upgraded or updated service to consumers through apps?
