I wasn’t surprised by this result, because back in my school days, the cafeteria was full of students eating alone, eyes glued to their screens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Instead of conversation at a warm dinner table, many people are spending more time accompanied not by others, but by digital entertainment. To be honest, I am one of them. I enjoy watching anime when I eat alone. However, staring at a screen while eating alone is one thing \u2014 doing the same with others at the table is quite another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Most of us have heard someone complain that their date keeps checking their phone over dinner \u2014 or maybe we’ve all done the same thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For adults, you could say it is simply a matter of personal choice, but what about children?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My niece sometimes refuses to eat unless she is watching Anpanman, her favorite show. Her parents may allow it at home, but not on my watch. If she grows up with this habit from an early age, there is no telling how it would affect her relationship with food and the people around her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
